Thank you for your comments again.

I plan to release the next wechall update on Tuesday, January the 25th.
There will be more fixes and additions too, and i am already looking forward to the next minor release.

Special thanks go to Kender for inventing the original algorithm.
A "go for it" from Kender means a lot to the patched algo! Smile

Gna, I had a personal challenge with myself to keep place 42 in the ranking for as long as possible... I managed to "solve" the challenge for some weeks now. Now I am way off track... Sad

Seems like it would be the right time to set new objectives, I think...

It seems like +Ma scoring is a bit unfair now.
For 50% solved a player got only 800 points, a bit harsh in my opinion.

I will adjust the scoring for it later today, to be more like the old formula for +Ma.
This can be easily achieved by adjusting some value for it Smile

Edit: I have changed +Ma scoring back to old values. It might have only a few challenges but each one is really hard. pow(p, 2) is better than pow(p, 4.8) for it Smile

Hi! i like the new ranking (also jumped a couple of places up Smile ) but i think security traps has a problem with the new formula too...
as i can see here http://www.wechall.net/wc4scoring/Security%20Traps.txt even with ~12% player gets 0 points..and for 50% one gets only 400-500 points..you could take a look at it too if you agree Smile

take care

Agreed.
I have set the "pow_arg" from 100 to 40 which results in a score gain for lower percentages.

By the way, SecurityTraps seem to have interesting and original challenges. My compliments to Mawekl Smile

If you find other sites that are ranked weird, let me know.

I agree with the others regarding the new formula; the only thing I dislike (so far) is that the backupbox scoring dropped a lot compared to yesterday.. might be a bit subjective, but I myself lost about 50 places in the ranking ;)

that probably depends on the number of challenges they offer; but I consider them a lot harder than e.g. the problems on cstutoringcenter which in turn appear much more profitable than before.

cheers

Even at 61.54% yachoor only has 1242 points. Yes, something is wrong with that. Security Traps is not easy. [ Smile But Gizmore beat me to it. I just saw the reply to cripple_ripper when I previewed.]

The same problem occurs with Hispabyte-- ~30% and still 0 points.

To a lesser extent, This Is Legal shows 3.75% and 0 points, which is a little odd since 0.29% on Tools and Design is worth 18 points.

15% on The Backup Box is worth 0 points. You have to get to 20% to get a single point.

Generally, the new scoring seems like it may penalize low site scores (low site percentage) too much. It works out on the top end but it would be frustrating to solve three, four, five, or more challenges on a new site and get no points for it. It feels unfriendly. Smile Can you set something like 1 point per solved challenge as an absolute bottom end?

Thank you both for your feedback.
In the new scoring, sites with only a very few challs require you to solve a lot % to get good scores.
On some sites this is quite harsh, so i will adjust these sites individually.
I will raise backupbox back to original, hispabyte maybe a little, and i will check out ThisIsLegal too.

At least the new algorithm gives way more control over the scores, and it can be well applied to the extreme sites too Smile
So all in all i think the change was good and needed, but of course we need to adjust it a bit.

Adding at least one point per chall is quite difficult, if not impossible.
In WC3 there was at least 1 point for each site where you got more than 0.00% ... but one point is nothing in my opinion Smile

One point is not worth much mathematically. That is true. At that rate, you'd get... what?... 3000-4000 points total if you solved every challenge on every site? Congratulations, you've made it to page 15 or 16 in the rankings. Smile

One point has a psychological punch though. My friends look at me like I am utterly insane when I talk about playing these site so it seems that a little encouragement for those with even a little bit of interest is a good thing. But if its overly difficult to do, it shouldn't make much difference ultimately. The scoring seems to work out on the higher percentages.
