Now you can cast polls....

Everything is still very alpha/beta ;), so expect bugs.
Please report bugs or ugly behaviour.

So, i think i am gonna try to cast a first poll,
which is only possible with a specific score ;)

I wish people would add a reply to state what they think is unfair about the current scoring Smile

To determine the base score for each site, maybe have a "basket" of players who are representative of the majority of challenge sites. This idea comes from the stock market in which a particular index is calculated from a basket of stocks.

So the base score for each site is computed from the scores of these representative players. If a site is well-represented by this basket, then its base score will be high.

Just a thought on a lazy morning.

I agree and like the idea of letting top-challengers decide/adjust the base_score.

Maybe we could vote for some people, which are "representative", and ask them to discuss the scores in a more private scope. (I could make a forum board especially for representative challengers where this could be discussed)

When there are too less "representatives", we could also cast votes for each site, and let all users decide.

So i suggest the following challengers (in alphabetical order) to decide the base_scores:

alucardo, Inferno, quangntenemy, TheHiveMind, yachoor.

I surely forgot some people, so vote more here Smile

Another thing is that some challenge sites actually do not differ between hard and easy challenges. So if I solved a hard or an easy challenge, anyways, I would get only one point.

Well I know, you'll say: this is not our task, that's their chall-site-internal problem.

But we're talking about fair scoring and I think that is an important factor to consider.

so then maybe make a good suggestion how to score items differently that all have the same score Smile
From our point of view we can do not much about the scoring on other sites.

All in all, i think the scores come out not too unfair, it can get adjusted a bit tho.
The points reflect an addition of sites, which involve time spent and surely there are sites which are unfair scored at the moment.

That's a good point. This problem becomes acute in extreme cases. So site XYZ has 100 challenges but they are all easy challenges. Site ABC has only 20 but very difficult and good challenges.

Gizmore: Your idea of a voting system for the basket of challengers is good way to start.

Maybe have a scoring system based on (just a suggestion):

1) number of challenges (more is better, though not always)
2) variety of challenges (more choices is better, usually)
3) quality of challenges

Cheers!
